While a ‘Day of Dance and a Legal Firm might seem an odd match, to SwUrl and Journey Family Lawyers, it makes good sense.
Our immediate attraction to Journey Family Lawyers was that they do things differently. Journey Family Lawyers are most definitely NOT your run of the mill legal practice. We are honoured they have taken on the role of Guardian for our inaugural event and value their financial support and practical advice.
So what does a day of dance, and a legal practice have in common?
We discovered Journey Family Lawyers view the end of a relationship as part of the journey – the end of a chapter, not the entire story. They are committed to assisting people through what can be one of the most difficult times in a person’s life.
“Healing needs to take place on every level,” says Lynette Galvin Principal of Journey Family Lawyers. Divorce is a journey, and often times it opens people up to realising there are a whole lot of important things in life that have gone by the way side.
We see the “Journey Through Dance” as a wonderful way to remember that life is a journey not a destination. So we’re really happy to put our support behind the “Journey through Dance” and we hope, along with the ‘SwUrl Girls’ Deirdrie and Mina, that people can discover their beauty within on this journey through life.”
You really need to read a little about Journey Family Lawyers to understand why they are so special.
Lynnette and her husband Bryan who is also a lawyer and director of the company, see they play a vital role in the evolution of relationships. “Not all relationships are forever,” says Lynette Galvin. “ Too often we see that legal proceedings become part of the problem creating division, anger and stress between couples and families. We are committed to working as part of the solution rather than exacerbating the problem. Divorce is not the end, children and property often require a relationship to continue even though the marriage might not. Divorce is the start of a new chapter, and a major part of life’s journey for many people. It’s how divorce is approached and handled that makes all the difference. It doesn’t HAVE to be acrimonious or hateful.”
“Our role is make the transition as easy as possible. If you are looking to fight with your partner or take your anger and pain out on them in a court room, then we may not be the Lawyers for you. Please be assured however, that when it comes down to a court hearing, we are a force to be reckoned with. With 3 offices established in Queensland, we pride ourselves in the very low number of cases that ever need to see the inside of a courtroom. In fact it would be very unusual for us to take more than 2 cases a year to trial!”
Lynette’s expertise as a lawyer is well known and respected. She is a Councillor of the Queensland Law Society and a member of the Family Law Committee of the Queensland Law Society. Perhaps there is hope for the legal system yet!
Lynette explains; “In our firm, each solicitor has only a small number of clients so that your matter is given the attention it deserves and your solicitor is nearly always available to talk to you. Experience tells us that this means your case will be finalised sooner, with the resulting savings in stress and costs. We did not set out to be the biggest family law firm in Brisbane, nor the most prestigious (although our credentials stack up). We do, however want to continue to be leaders in caring for clients and treating them with the respect they deserve.
Our philosophy is to try to get you through this most difficult time in one piece, both emotionally and financially. As a family law firm we believe that family law is not just about arguing your way to a victory, but that we must consider the impact of the court system on you as a person and how the outcomes can best be achieved that promote peace and harmony between all parties. Otherwise, there can be a legacy of bitterness and conflict that lasts years after the court process is finished.
Our firm’s name reflects what we want to do for you, and that is to be a guide by your side through your “journey” of separation.”
We’re really grateful for the support of Journey Family Lawyers and know that once you get to know Lyn
ette and Bryan, you’ll appreciate, as we do, their contribution to our Journey.
